One of the great things about our Planner is the ability to keep your financial plan updated in real-time without having to scavenge all of your updated account statements and balances once a year or so to have us manually bring the plan current. By adding a secure back-end connection to our system you will be able to keep the balances up to date, with a very small amount of maintenance.
Any account that we manage will be maintained on our end, so you won’t need to do anything, so for simplicity, if nothing else, you can transfer any appropriate account into our custody, and eliminate any associated maintenance tasks. If not, don’t worry, the maintenance is pretty slight. You basically just need to log in to the site once in a while through our portal interface.
Here is a quick tutorial on adding accounts.
From your portal home screen, you will see something like this:
Simply click on the ADD button, and you will see this:
If you have online access to the account, and it is at any of a wide variety of institutions, you can select “I have an online login” or you can add a manual account and put in the values by hand, which obviously means it will need to be updated manually. We obviously think the former choice is easier in the long run.
Once you select “I have an online login” you will see the following prompt:
I put in “PNC” and you can see the various choices that might apply. Usually you will recognize the right one fairly easily. If you have any problems, let us know and we will help out. After selecting the correct choice, you will see something like this:
At this step you just put in the credentials that you would use to access your account and the financial institution will create the back-end credentials to keep the account up to date. It works seamlessly most of the times, but some banks have additional steps. All you need to do is follow the directions, and if you have any problems, we are available to help on the phone or via a screen-sharing session.
